  • Ennis Bennett,

Founder and C.E.O. (Chief Educational Officer)
Virtue in Progress Worldwide, INC. (VIPW)

Ennis Bennett was born in Mount Vernon, New York, a small urban village outside of New York City where he was raised by his father, Ennis Bennett Sr. and his mother, Louise (both now deceased).
He has been blessed with 6 lovely daughters (4 biological and 2 adopted), 3 adopted sons, 1 niece, 1 nephew, grandchildren and several spiritual god children through personal relationships. They have all gone on to become successful professionals with developing careers.   Ennis is the oldest child of 3, a brother (now deceased) and a wonderful sister.  He was baptized and spiritually rooted in Grace Baptist Church, also in Mount Vernon, N.Y. where the actor, Ossie Davis, was his first Sunday School teacher.

After graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1966 he went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Howard University.

In 1975, Ennis became a Telecommunications Technician for 7 years and Telecommunications Engineer for 5 years at I.T.T. in New York City, where he worked with foreign administrations to install and align international satellite channels with peripheral telephony and computer equipment. While at I.T.T. he earned a high award for installing the international satellite ‘audio link’ for the first ever global share holders meeting held on two continents. (Chicago,USA and London,England)

He left I.T.T. and took over management of his father’s business in 1986 when his father had to retire due to illness. He decided after a short time there that the only way to true freedom spiritually, mentally and financially was to ‘control’ his own business and destiny. His decision to learn as much as possible about economics and what can be termed ‘a new economic infrastructure’ can be understood by the journey that he embarked on from that point.

Due to the strong spiritual foundation provided through his mother, he studied comparative world religions, semantic languages, Egypt and Hieroglyphics and was ordained a minister while receiving an Honorary Doctor of Divinity in 1993 conferred by the Illustrious Potentate Rev. Dr. Malachi Z. York from the Holy Tabernacle Ministries, in the State of Georgia. The spiritual name given to him at that time was ‘Yowhanna’ (the Most High is Gracious) He has served as a teacher in Islam and studied Torah under Rabboni Yashu’a Bar El Haady. This has given him an over-standing of the religious diversity in the African American community. He was also raised in the Masonic Grand North Lodge, Brooklyn, New York where he served as Grand Public Relations Officer.

The commitment of his father, Ennis Sr., to local community service and business development lead Ennis Jr. to a long standing Board member for the Association of Community Based Artists of Westchester for over 40 years.  It is the largest indigenous black owned cultural art gallery, multi-media center, commercial and residential institution in the African American community in Westchester County, New York.

He studied and taught principles of a global marketing system for human economic balance as a marketing consultant for Pallata International in the Empire State Building, New York City and served as Senior Trustee for C.H.A.N.G.E., Communities Helping Advance National and Global Economics with the headquarters in The National Black Theatre, Harlem, USA.

Ennis also served as a Board of Directors member and was appointed the National Representative for African Stock Exchange Association Development Corporation, the only Federal Chartered organization (1964) for Americans of African descent in particular to operate their own economic infrastructure with authority to develop domestic and international autonomy.

Over the years Ennis got the opportunity to travel throughout the United States extensively while at I.T.T. and also has made visits to Africa, Canada, and the Carribbean. One trip to Africa he served as the Committee Chairperson on Global Trade for the ‘Black Church Means Business’ organized by Rev. Dennis Dillon, Founder and Senior Pastor of the Brooklyn Christian Center, N.Y.  They established the first International ‘Black Church Means Business Conference in Cote D’Voire (Ivory Coast), West Africa in August of 2006.

Dr. Yowhanna was asked to hold a company position for the New Image Group LLC as the Director of Humanitarian Affairs. The CEO and long time friend of Dr. Yowhanna, Kevin Owens, lead singer for Ray, Goodman & Brown (The Moments) and former back up for Luther Vandross established the company to change the image of the African American in the ever changing music industry. The target market was the inner city youth or who we call ‘the Millennials”.

Of all of his business relationships, the one that he values greatly today is his appointment to the diplomatic position; Minister of Business and Economic Development for the Yamassee Native American Association of Nations.  Dr. Yowhanna E. Bennett a.k.a. Chief Rising Water Black Eagle (indigenous tribal name) says, “this assignment will give me the real leverage needed to complete a long time vision and make major changes for the good in our communities and global south”.

Most of the mentorship and professional positions that have been held by Ennis have been volunteer and many times he spent his own money to reach the end goals of these projects. Ennis ‘Dr. Yowhanna’ established Virtue In Progress WorldWide, Inc. business in 2009 to have a positive economic impact in our global communities using all these relationships in the incubator.

With the wealth of other ‘strategic partners’ that have developed over the years through long term personal and business agreements, there is over 200 years of associate professional experience to offer.

Dr. Yowhanna E. Bennett gives credit for these opportunities to his Ancestors, the patience and love of his Family, business team and the Rev. Dr. Malachi Z. K. York.

We are all prepared, ready and able to “Make A Difference” (get MAD).
